My Story

Hi, I’m Nicholas Hansella UX Designer, filmmaker, and content producer with a background in storytelling, audience psychology, and human-centered design.

I spent five years working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, contributing to acclaimed television series, including Showtime’s Shameless, Hulu’s Dollface, and HBO’s The Flight Attendant, as well as Sundance award-winning films such as The Accidental Getaway Driver and Little Death. Much of my work was as a film scout and production professional, where I developed a strong eye for detail, logistics, and understanding how people move through physical and emotional spaces.

Following the writers’ and actors’ strikes, I pivoted toward building my own creative platforms. For the past three years, I’ve grown a YouTube channel to over 22,000 subscribers, creating long-form and short-form content focused on storytelling, creativity, and process. I’ve also worked as a brand producer and social media manager, helping grow a creator’s account from 5K to 10K followers through strategic content planning, audience analysis, and consistent brand storytelling.

Most recently, I completed a nine-month UX Design bootcamp through Springboard, where I formalized the skills I’ve been applying intuitively for years: user research, usability testing, information architecture, and designing efficient, empathetic experiences that guide users clearly from point A to point B. My background in film and content creation gives me a unique advantage — I design with narrative clarity, emotional awareness, and real-world user behavior in mind.

As a filmmaker, I wrote and directed the award-winning short film Flowers, which won Best Direction at the LGBT Toronto Film Festival, has screened internationally, and has accumulated over 400,000 views online. I’m currently developing my first feature film and documenting the process publicly to demystify creative work and encourage others to pursue their ideas.

Originally from Boston, educated at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and having lived in Los Angeles for five years, I now work flexibly between Boston and LA. Across UX, content, and film, my work is driven by empathy, clarity, and the belief that creativity isn’t a luxury — it’s a practical tool for building meaningful, effective experiences.
